Default Vacation Rentals not Detrimentally Affected by Slow Economy

A survey of property management companies shows that rentals of vacation properties have not been negatively affected by the downfall of the economy. The survey shows that vacation rentals remains strong with 100% of those property management companies that replied to this survey.

Those reporting in the survey say that the number of bookings of vacation rental properties has either remained steady or have even seen an increase in bookings.

All of those surveyed said that revenue was the same or better than last year.

60% have seen a steady growth in inventory with none seeing a decline.

Half of the property management companies reported that more property owners are relying on PMC services to help increase occupancy rates to maximize their secondary incomes.

The survey results show that there seems to be a sharp increase in people who choose to vacation within driving distances of their own homes, instead of paying high airfares and staying in a hotel.

Vacationing this way is a great value, and even more so in tough economic times. Vacation homes save on the cost of lodging, there is the benefit of increased privacy, common family/living/dining areas and of course the cost effectiveness of eating meals at home.

I am glad to know that at least there has not been a downturn of vacation rentals. I am quite suprised though. A lot of people I know who normally travel and rent lodging at their destinations are just not doing so this summer. It isn't affordable to them right now. They aren't vacationing at all this year. The costs are too high. I know we won't be traveling for a vacation this year. We are staying home.

If we take a vacation this year, we will take our 6 man tent, our propane stove, and our lanterns and fishing poles and go camp out at one of the local lakes. We have a really nice camp ground within 20 miles of our home, with hiking trails, picnic grounds, a huge lake and a great time can be had there for a very minimal price.

I see no reason to have to travel a long distance or having to put out a lot of hard earned cash in order to have a vacation and a good time.

Flippinout, your idea of a vacation is pretty much the same as mine, lol. There are others though that need solid walls around them, and do want to get away to the shore or whatever for a vacation.

My original post gives another option to those people, that will save them cash and yet let them get away the way they would like.
