Default Tricky.

Ok this is a new one on me. Some friends of mine went to rent a trailer. When the got there they decided they liked it.

The landlord gave them the rent amount and also told them he needed the security deposit. All of this is normal and standard.

After he had four parties sign a lease agreement he decided to tell them that it was like this. If they were late on the rent one of the other parties would have to pay.

Then he goes on to say that they would be evicted and if they did not agree to it he would tear up the agreement.

Well my issue here is all of this should have been stated before hand and in the lease agreement. What kind of person does this and would you trust them after a trick like that.

Running would be a good idea, people like that will change their minds about anything at any time causing you more headache then the rental is worth.

Any time you decide to rent a place, everything should be put in writing and everyone should recieve a copy. This way everyone has proof as to what is supposed to happen and what is not supposed to happen.

For someone to play such a trick is horrible, and goes to show that there are people in this world who are just plain and simple jerks!!

I don't care what he says after the lease signing, its all either a bluff or a scare tactic, because non of it is legal. He can say anything he wants, but by law its not legal, and thats why its not in the lease, i would still stay away if you don't want the hassle of a crap landlord, but if you want the place, then go ahead and deal with him harshly if he tries anything that sounds ridiculous, because it probably is.
