Default Renting out your vacation home.

It was the perfect place for you to spend a couple of weeks each summer. Now you just can't seem to find the time to get there. You seem to be putting in more time at work and your family just has too many things going on to be able to go.

We all got our vacation homes thinking that we would be able to go often. We also thought that if we weren't able to vacation there we would at least have the time to go and check on it.

If you have this problem consider renting it out. If you rent out you vacation home for 2 weeks or less you don't have to pay taxes on the rental income. You don't even have to report it.

Keep track of how many days a year you use the home including when family or friends use it. Keep track of your rental days also. As always please contact your tax adviser before you begin any new process.

has anyone done this, rented out thier vac home? what was your experience with this? did they take care of the place, keep it clean, or was it trashed and not taken care of?
those would be my biggest concerns, and worries
