Default Rental Property Changes

I have heard about alot of people who rent a home, but then begin making changes to the home to suite them. This usally causes alot of problems between the renter and the landlord.

I thought that I would post about this because a friend of mine was about to start making a few changes to her rented home with out the permission of her landlord.

Granted when my friend contacted her landlord and they discussed the changes that she was wanting to make the landlord agreed to the changes and they were added into her contract.

Though some of the changes that people do to rented homes, landlords dislike. Things like removing walls to enlarge a room, adding gardens, changing the colors of the interior of the home and so on. Granted some of these changes proably wouldnt bother a landlord to much, but then again some of them would anger just about anyone.

This is why before you make any changes to a rented home, you should discuss why you would like the changes done and agree to do the work with the landlord, prior to making any changes.

Its also a great idea to get this agreement in writing so that if there are any problems later on down the road you and the landlord both would have proof that certain changes that were discussed were allowed.

Everyone wants to make their home their own, this even includes rented homes. Though before making the home more of your own, be sure to talk to your landlord before the process begins.
