Default Question about renters and foreclosure.

My daughter rents and her landlord is being foreclosed upon. What
action should she take? We live in Michigan.

Are there any resources available to show people state to state what
they can do in there state to protect their interests?

She recently told me that he talked to his bank and she has 9 months
before they will do anything. I hate second hand information and am
afraid for her.

Any input into the law and any available information is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what her rights are or if she has any at all. It sounds like she needs to find a new place asap. Sorry to hear it...

You may want to check out Nolo, it is an online site, I dont know if it will be of any help to you but its worth a shot. I know they have a link which will take you to where you can speak to a lawyer and maybe get some answers there.

This can vary from state to state and even town to town.

Most places the tenant will still have to go through eviction procedures before being booted. In some foreclosures, if the bank ends up holding the house, the bank will be happy to have a month to month tenant, but not so happy with a lease.

You can likely find out online when the house is due for foreclosure.

You get a 7 day free trial at this site http://www.realtytrac.com/pub/landin...mized_c_or.asp and can search for that house and see details. Make sure you follow the rules so you don't get charged.

Yep your right about the month to month renter for the bank.

i went through the same thing, a few years back, and the bank the did the foreclosing, was more than happy to have a renter, they wanted the income and then they sold the house to someone who was also happy to already have a renter. so it could be ok.
