Default Making up a lease.

If you are going to be a landlord and you need to make up a lease there are a few things to know.

The laws in your state concerning renting and what you are responsible for as a landlord.

I read that there are no standard lease forms. It won't help you to download a form off of the internet as most won't apply or will need to be amended.

In order to do this right you need to contact a lawyer and make sure that you have all of the facts and cover yourself as well as your renters. If you get the wrong information you may end up in court owing money instead of collecting it.

Be safe and get all of the information available to you and always consult a professional.

Default Re: Making up a lease.

I believe that when it comes to a rental lease, the best way to go on that is to have an attorney that specializes in Real Estate law in your area draw up the lease for you.

This way you are protected and everything that should be in said lease will be in there according to your states law.

Its also a good idea to make yourself aware of all of the can and cannot dos when it comes to being a landlord or landlady.

As you said, all states are different when it comes to these things and it is far better to be safe now than sorry later.
