Default Lower Your Rent

There are lots of things that you can do to try and negotiate paying a lower amount in rent.

Sometimes in can be difficult to pay rent, just like making a house payment so negotiate to pay the least amount that you can.

Negotiate with the property owner. Find out what similar houses/apartments rent for. Write a respectful letter to the owner explaining the comparables and be sure to emphasize your record as an excellent tenant.

Secure a roommate to help foot the bill. Do thorough research and take you time to find just the right person. Make sure whatever your agreement is that you get it into writing and it should at the very least be notorized.

Help keep the place up. Talk to the landlord about doing upkeep and repairs yourself in exchange for lower rent.

Prepay your rent. Many landlords will offer a discount if you prepay.

You do have lots of options as a tenant.

Default Re: Lower Your Rent

Those are some very useful suggestions you have offered and a few of them, I bet most people havent even considered as a way to lower their rent.

Perhaps mowing grass for the landlord or landlady at their rentals could be taken off your months rent as opposed to the owners having to outsource that job to a company which would end up costing them more. And by taking it off the rent you pay, they wouldnt miss the money as much as if they had to pay cash or by check for the same job.

Even in the winter, a person could clear sidewalks and driveways to have money taken off their rent, or paint apartments that have become empty and doing the cleanup so that said apartment could be rerented.

Check all the options. Its very well worth looking into.
