Default Get It In Writing

This is horrible. A couple was working on a house next door to me. The house was in need of many repairs. They made an agreement with the landlord to fix up the place as rent.

After working on the house for several weeks, putting I believe $2,000 into the house in repairs the landlord decided he ALSO wanted rent money!!

This didn't go over well with the couple at all and I don't blame them what so ever. I did ask them if they had gotten this agreement in writing and they said no.

I informed them that was their first mistake. After some complaints and threats I guess they got things straightened out and kept the landlord to his word and this time made him put the agreement in writing and had it legalized.

So as long as the couple can prove they are at least putting the rent amount into the house with reciepts they are good to go.

I am surprised that anyone was willing to put the amount of work and money needed into this rental. The previous renters were honestly to put it politely...horrible people!!

Never just use a verbal agreement, get it all in writing so that things like this never happen to you no matter what it is for.

Get it in writing goes for anything in life that you make a agreement on that money is involved.
