Default Cracked Basement Repairs

As I have mentioned before my other half is dealing with a basement that leaks badly.

Right now he has around 6" of water sitting in his basement which proves two things. His walls need to be repaired because they are allowing water to enter and that his drainage pipe in the basement is clogged or busted.

Anyway I found this video and wonder if it would work on the walls in his basement to help seal them and keep the water out?

I am also wondering if I would need to use this stuff or something like it all over the walls to make sure that water doesn't get in anymore?

Getting the water directed away from the home helps too. If you can go out and pour water down your gutter and watch where it drains.

We have a spot in the back yard that needs to be dealt with. Its a low spot that as winter progressed filled with ice. Its about 8 foot around.

This indicates that it is a low spot that needs to be filled. We then need to get an extender for the end of the downspout so that we can direct the water to another area so that it will drain away.

The basement still gets water in it even after we installed a drain system all the way around the house. The low lying area and the downspout problem allow too much water to build up and it doesn't drain away quickly thus water in the basement. Good luck and hopefully you find a solution that not only works now but is permanant. Nothing like repeating these things over and over.

I hate to tell you homealone, but just filling the crakes in the basement won't stop the leak. You have to get the water away from the foundation. Just filling the cracks will make it look better and it may slow it down some, but it won't stop it. I think that your curtain drain has collapsed and the water is just standing around the foundation. Concrete block will absorb water if the water stands and that is probably what is happening. Probably the cheapest way to fix it is to have someone like B-Dry come in and that will still be high dollar fix.

Yeah your right it is going to be a costly repair and I am dreading it seriously!!

I know that the drain pipe has to be broken because last year he had the drain cleared and already it is clogged again. I believe it is the old clay pipe so it is most likely destroyed.

I am betting that will have to be dug up and replaced, plus something will have to be done to allow the water coming in to be drained with out having it pool and cause more problems.

This whole mess is such a headache already I am not sure I want to deal with it. Maybe he should just sell the place and find something else that does have as much wrong with it!! That sounds like an idea to me, but no one would even bother buying this house in the condition it is in.
