That is rather gross. That would take a lot of cleaning before you even started on the fixing up part.

I think on that one we would completely gut the garage down to the studs and red dry wall everything. We decided that there are plenty of easier houses to do...

I agree on both counts. Gutting the garage would be your best bet. Is the location and so on worth the extra effort, or would it be easier to just go on to something else?

The house is in a nice area and could be worth it if we got it for the right price. There are so many houses out there that are much easier to make money on than this one right now!! We looked at a split level today that had been flooded recently and had a ton of mold in it too. Yummy! I am posting pictures/vids on my blog almost daily now of houses we inspect. You have GOT to see the chandelier we saw in a house a few days ago. It looks like a big bundle of grapes... laughed my a$$ off!! You can get to the blog through my website.

The black mold problem is one that needs to be handled by experts. I know that you are aware of this, but many people arent.

Black mold can cause many health problems if inhaled. It can cause learning problems in children and can cause memory loss in adults. These are problems that people affected by black mold have to live with the rest of their lives. So, it is imperative to have black mold taken care of as soon as it is discovered.

Right on bartongrl. That black stuff is gross and very bad if you breath it in. I think a good thing to carry with you when inspecting houses is masks!!

Yes, do take surgical masks with you if nothing else. That mold can cause a lot of uncurable damage.

When professionals take care of the mold, they also use growth inhibitors, which makes it very unlikely that the mold will come back. Plus they remove everything from the house that has any hint of mold on it.
